Emergency services have descended on a Derbyshire industrial estate after a small plane crashed.

Police officers and firefighters arrived at the scene near Sheepbridge Lane in Chesterfield at 9am.

Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service asked people to avoid the area while emergency services deal with the incident.

In an update about the incident, Derbyshire Police revealed how much of the area would be blocked off.

The force said: "Roads in the immediate area are closed and will remain shut for some time while the investigation into the circumstances continues."

Flight-tracking website Flightradar suggested the plane took off from Coal Aston airfield, near Dronfield.

It also indicated the plane is a two-seater Evektor SportStar.

The manufacturer claims the aircraft is predominantly used by flight schools.
