Former San Jose State University volleyball co-captain Brooke Slusser has been forced to complete her final semester from home in Texas after facing harassment for speaking out against transgender teammate Blaire Fleming.
Slusser, who backed rival teams' decisions to forfeit games against SJSU, no longer felt safe on the California campus.
She faced on-campus harassment, online threats and mental health issues following her stance on the transgender controversy that engulfed the team.
'I would just be walking, and I'd have people say things to me, like I had one girl just scream 'f*** you!' to me,' Slusser told Fox News.
She described frightening encounters in her apartment building.
'I was in the elevator one time and some girls, as they were walking out, were like 'oh, that's the girl, you should have slapped her when you had the chance'.'
'I had some threats coming in too, so you never know what people will do,' Slusser added.
'People threatened to confront me on campus.'
Slusser first joined Riley Gaines' lawsuit against the NCAA in September, claiming that SJSU's volleyball coaches and administrators withheld information about Fleming's birth sex.

In November, she filed her own lawsuit against SJSU's head coach, the university and the Mountain West Conference.
The lawsuit sought to have Fleming declared ineligible for the Mountain West Conference tournament.
It also asked for SJSU's wins to be vacated and the team to be deemed ineligible for the conference tournament.
The lawsuit also alleged that plaintiffs' free speech rights were infringed upon as they were discouraged from speaking about their opposition to Fleming's participation.
SJSU's administrators reportedly told the volleyball team to remain silent about the issue once it became public.

They allegedly said that speaking about it would be considered 'transphobic'.
Some team players were upset they hadn't been informed of Fleming's biological gender.
They only discovered when rumours began circulating on campus.
A spokesperson for SJSU refused to comment on the allegations at the time.
Southern Utah, Boise State, Utah State, Nevada and Wyoming all opted to forfeit games against San Jose State throughout the season.
LATEST SPORTS NEWS:
Slusser had attempted to warn coaches that forfeits were looming before the season started.
The lawsuit stated she communicated that Fleming's participation 'was not fair to the girls and put them at physical risk'.
According to team-mates, Fleming spikes the ball at 80 miles per hour during practice.
Slusser claimed these powerful hits put players at high risk of injuries, including concussions.
She also argued it handed the Spartans an unfair advantage.
At the time, NCAA policy allowed transgender women to compete in women's sports if they met parameters set by the sport's governing body.
For volleyball, transgender women were deemed eligible if they suppressed their testosterone under 10 nmol/L.
SJSU maintained that all its players met these criteria.
However, earlier this month, President Donald Trump signed an executive order barring transgender participation in women's sports.
This action has forced the NCAA to change its policy regarding transgender athletes.
