Officers rushed to the scene alongide emergency personnel from London's Air Ambulance and London Ambulance Service.
The 16-year-old boy was pronounced dead on Paradise Road following efforts from paramedics in SW4.
Officers have not yet been able to identify the 16-year-old who was killed.
However, Scotland Yard confirmed it will contact his next of kin once formal identification is completed.
The Metropolitan Police also said that no arrests have been made at this stage of the investigation.
A police cordon is in place, with officers intent on keeping the cordon until emergency services complete their initial enquiries.
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:
Superintendent Gabriel Cameron, who is leading the local policing response, stressed officers will continue to gather CCTV footage from the scene.
He said: “This is an enormously shocking incident which I imagine will cause huge distress to the local community.
“Our thoughts are with the young boy’s family at this devastating time.
“Local officers are on the scene gathering CCTV and speaking to witnesses to piece together what has happened.
"They will be supported by specialist homicide investigators shortly.
“Please rest assured we will work around the clock to identify and find those responsible.”
Potential witnesses have been urged to call police on 101 with the reference 4116/4MAR.
Those with information can also contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 if they wish to remain anonymous.
