Taylor Swift has reportedly shared a positive stance on her boyfriend Travis Kelce's comments about President Donald Trump's planned attendance at Sunday's Super Bowl.
The 35-year-old music icon and Trump have had numerous public spats, with the president previously declaring he “hates” Swift. The news comes amidst renewed speculation of a pitch-side marriage proposal from Kelce to Swift during the hugely anticipated sporting event.
American football star Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs will face the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday nights Super Bowl.
During a pre-game press conference, Kelce addressed Trump's planned attendance at the NFL’s massive annual final.
"It's awesome. It's a great honour, I think, no matter who the president is," the tight end said.
"I'm excited because it's the biggest game of my life and having the president there - it's the best country in the world - and that's pretty cool,” he concluded simply.
Kelce's comments, while not directly praising Trump or even mentioning him by name, quickly sparked fan outrage given the apparent bad blood between Swift and the president.
The tension between the pair had previously reached fever pitch in September 2024 when Swift publicly endorsed Kamala Harris for president.
In her lengthy endorsement, she criticised AI-generated misinformation falsely linking her to Trump's campaign and declared her support for Harris on Instagram.
Trump responded with a stark message on Truth Social, fuming: "I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!"
The singer had previously voiced opposition to Trump in her 2020 Miss Americana documentary, stating she needed to be "on the right side of history" despite warnings it could cost her half her fanbase.
Despite this, an inside source has revealed that "Taylor is just so proud of Travis and cannot wait to be there to support him,"
They emphasised there has been "no fight, no argument and no blowout" over Kelce’s comments.
"Although Travis's quote was taken as he supports Trump, this is not what Travis said at all," the source explained to the Daily Mail.
They added that Kelce was speaking on behalf of his entire team about having any president at the game, regardless of who happened to be in the White House.
"Travis answered the way he did because some of his teammates and friends support Trump," a second insider confirmed.
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:
The source, also speaking to the Mail, continued: "He doesn't want to get embroiled in a controversy that she gets sucked into, which would have happened if he'd said something derogatory.
“He just wants to get to the game, win and move forward without any craziness,” they added.
Despite reported harmony in the star couple’s camp, a cohort of Swift fans took to social media to share their outrage with the “disappointing” remarks from Kelce.
Some fans went as far as to brand Kelce as “a clown,” “trash” and even called for Swift to break up with him.
