Taylor Swift played a crucial role in convincing Travis Kelce not to retire from the NFL following the Kansas City Chiefs' devastating Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in February.

The 35-year-old tight end appeared ready to hang up his boots after his team's three-peat dreams were shattered in a 40-22 defeat in New Orleans.

However, Kelce ultimately decided to continue his career with the Chiefs, with Swift's influence being a significant factor.

'She didn't want Travis to retire,' a source told Page Six. 'She wanted him to go out on a high note.'

The couple reportedly made this important decision together during discussions about their future.

At 35, Kelce is undoubtedly in the latter stages of his career, with questions about his physical capabilities.

'He has to be able to physically do it,' the insider added, noting that whilst the couple discussed the decision together, the final call was Kelce's own.

Swift's advice aligned with that of Kelce's teammates in Kansas City.

Rice revealed he texted his team-mate directly about the matter.

He continued: 'He basically was like, "bro, I really appreciate that." He's like, "you really got me thinking about it. I really appreciate you reaching out to me."'

Kelce himself opened up about his decision on the New Heights podcast, which he co-hosts with his older brother Jason.
