A National Lottery jackpot winner has made a shock first purchase ahead of plans for a major transformation to her Herefordshire home.

The woman, known only as Ms P, bagged a staggering £1million in the EuroMillions UK Millionaire Maker draw.

Ms P’s first purchase was a SMEG kettle, and she is planning to use the money to complete a home renovation and treat her family.

Although the EuroMillions Millionaire Maker guarantees to create a millionaire in every lottery draw, the Valentine’s Day draw saw 14 millionaire winners in one night.

Mr R from Kent and Miss M from Antrim were also amongst the winners.

Ms P has joined the club of over nine million players who win each week on The National Lottery draws.

Winners can either opt to share their names or remain anonymous, as well as release some details through partial publicity like Ms P.

Andy Carter, Senior Winners’ Advisor at Allwyn and operator of The National Lottery, said: “This lucky winner should certainly be smug with her new SMEG, and now she is a million pounds richer!”

The latest announcement comes after another lucky winner, Mr R, also made an unexpected purchase after winning the £1million jackpot in the special Valentine's Day EuroMillions draw on February 14.

His first purchase was practical - new tools for his job, since he doesn’t plan to quit working.

He also is planning to help his parents pay off their mortgage as well as buy his own home.
