A 38-year-old man has been arrested following reports of stalking and sexual assault at a Sainsbury's supermarket in Chertsey, Surrey.
The incidents took place between 1pm and 2pm on January 23, at the store on Guildford Street.
A 20-year-old woman and a 15-year-old girl were allegedly sexually assaulted whilst shopping at the supermarket.
The suspect, who is from Chertsey, remains in police custody.
A male bystander intervened during the incident, asking the suspect to leave the victims alone and exit the store.
The assaults occurred while both victims were shopping at the Sainsbury's supermarket.
Surrey Police confirmed the suspect was asked to leave the premises following the intervention from the member of the public.
A Surrey Police spokesperson said: "We are appealing for witnesses following a report of stalking and sexual assault in Chertsey last week.
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:
"We are now interested in speaking to any individuals who may have witnessed the incident, particularly the male member of the public who helped the victims."
