Rachel Reeves has been told pointing to President Trump will do her no favours after Labour were handed another economic blow.
The UK’s official economic growth forecast will be cut in half next week, it has emerged, in what will be yet another tough reality for Labour to accept ahead of its mini-Budget unveiling.
The Government is to unveil a tranche of spending cuts and its spending watchdog will lower the expected growth rate for 2025 from two per cent to about one per cent.
Speaking on GB News, Nana Akua accused the Chancellor of blaming the economic instability caused by Trump’s trade wars.
Nana said: “She’s blaming Trump. She said ‘the worsened economic outlook as Trump imposes his strict tariffs’.
“She’s going to use that statement next week to attempt to blame him for part of this.”

Political commentator Andy Williams argued Trump’s tariffs which the EU has vowed to retaliate against have played some part in the bleak outlook.
“I don’t think it’s played any part of it”, Ben Leo snapped back.
Nana pointed out that it was a “shock” to Williams that Rachel Reeves “has actually done that [blamed Trump]”.
The Office of Budget Responsibility’s [OBR] outlook will come as a blow to Sir Keir Starmer who has repeatedly talked up the need for economic growth.
Reeves will use her spring statement speech on Wednesday to blame attribute the drop to the worsening global economic outlook.
Official figures showed Government borrowing surged above forecasts last month after dramatic increases in public spending.
The Office for National Statistics (ONS) said public sector net borrowing was £10.7bn in February.
This marks a £100m rise from the same month last year and the fourth-highest February on record.
