News Pubgoer dies in 'incident' at Wetherspoon boozer as customers urgently evacuated

A man has died in a popular Wetherspoon pub with customers evacuated.

The West Quay Wetherspoon in Brighton Marina has suddenly closed, with emergency services in attendance.



A spokesman from the pub chain has confirmed a man has died, with the pub closed for the rest of the afternoon.

Eyewitnesses report officers speaking to people inside the boozer.

A spokesman from the pub told Argus: "Unfortunately we have had a death in the pub. The paramedics tried to save him however were unsuccessful.

"Due to the circumstances it was very stressful on the team, the pub is closed, the team looked after and sent home.

"The plan is to re-open once the evening team come on to shift in an hour or two’s time."

GB News has approached Sussex Police for a comment.



An eyewitness told The Argus that customers were evacuated from the building by staff members.

Detectives were reportedly olice to people on the ground floor of the venue.
