Prince Harry made his feelings clear as a British athlete proposed at the Invictus Games.

The British army veteran made hearts melt yesterday when he proposed to his girlfriend following his wheelchair basketball match.

The couple's two-year-old son Arthur slept through the special moment, but Wild said yes to a jubilant Cairns.

Cairns, who was wounded in action when he was shot in the leg during deployment in Afghanistan, found a champion in his now-fiancée.

Wild proved instrumental in his Invictus journey, with Cairns revealing she "pushed me and gave me the driving force to apply for the Invictus Games."

"It's the best place that James could have done it because it means so much to him," Wild told Hello.

The proposal comes after a challenging period for Cairns, who revealed he had known "seven people who died by suicide after battling PTSD" in the past year.

"Invictus has been my driving force because I've been struggling with my mental health," Cairns shared.

The Games have provided a vital platform for veterans like Cairns to find healing through sport.

Prince Harry, who founded the Invictus Games in 2014, celebrated the romantic moment.

The royal said: "At Invictus, we provide a space for healing and outstanding athleticism, and in James and his new fiancée's case, even if you don't leave with a medal, you could leave with a ring!".
