Royal commentator Kinsey Schofield has claimed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle "have a lot to deal with" as controversy engulfs their charitable endeavours.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are embroiled in fresh turmoil following allegations about Meghan's unexpected appearance at a Sentebale charity polo event last year.

Dr Sophie Chandauka, chair of Sentebale, has accused the couple of causing "chaos" at the Florida event, describing the royal brand as "toxic".

Royal commentator Kinsey Schofield said: "She believes the rift began when she said 'I'm not an extension of the Sussex PR machine.

"I have no issue with Meghan, but I refuse to defend her publicly because we don't want to be associated with the toxic brand.'

"She says, analytically, you can look at the numbers of donations that came since Prince Harry stepped down and left the Royal Family, and the donations declined immensely.

"But when she talks about Prince Harry bullying her, it's interesting because he is being accused of doing exactly what he accused the Royal Family of doing, weaponising the media against his enemy, which in this case is Dr Sophie."

She added: "Talking about the last five years, this hasn't been Harry's only issue with a charity.

"In the last five years, the African Parks charity is still under investigation for issues that have happened there. Prince Harry has been heavily involved in that charity.

"So there’s just a lot that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have to deal with PR-wise in the coming weeks. I know that Meghan would prefer to focus on, as ever, her work, rather than some of the chaos."

The controversy comes amid significant upheaval at the charity, which was co-founded by Prince Harry in memory of his late mother, Princess Diana.

Meghan Markle's appearance at the Royal Salute Polo Challenge in Florida on April 12, 2024, reportedly caused significant disruption.

According to Dr Chandauka, the Duchess had initially informed organisers she would not attend the event.

However, she arrived unexpectedly with tennis star Serena Williams, creating confusion at the charity function.

The unannounced attendance led to what Dr Chandauka described as "chaotic" on-stage coordination.

"Had we been informed in advance, we would have been thrilled," she explained to Sky News.

Following the event, Dr Chandauka revealed that Prince Harry requested she issue a public statement supporting Meghan, which she refused.

"Prince Harry asked me to issue some sort of a statement in support of the Duchess, and I said I wouldn't," she stated.

"Not because I didn't care about the Duchess, but because I knew what would happen if I did so, number one. And number two, because we cannot be an extension of the Sussexes."
