The Duke of Edinburgh is conducting military engagements in Estonia, just days before his wife, the Duchess of Edinburgh, celebrates her 60th birthday on Monday.
Prince Edward, 60, began his overseas visit on Thursday with a series of military-focused events, including a cold weather training exercise.
The Duke arrived at Lennart Meri Tallinn Airport on Thursday afternoon, where he was welcomed by His Excellency Mr Ross Allen, the ambassador to the Republic of Estonia.
He was accompanied by his equerry, Captain George Hopkins from the Scots Guards Regiment.
In his role as Colonel-in-Chief of The Royal Dragoon Guards, Prince Edward attended a cold weather operator course in Harju County.
The annual training exercise involves soldiers spending two nights in the forest, where they learn essential survival skills including building camps, making fires and sourcing food and water.
Following the training exercise, the Duke visited Tapa Camp, an army base located in Laane-Viru County.
Later that evening, Prince Edward attended the Battlegroup Officers and Warrant Officers Reception, which was held at Vihula Manor.
The Duke was appointed Colonel-in-Chief of The Royal Dragoon Guards in August 2023, taking over the role from his brother, the King.
Last week, Prince Edward represented the British monarchy at the state funeral of President Jimmy Carter in Washington D.C.
The Duchess of Edinburgh will mark her milestone 60th birthday on January 20.
Earlier this week, Sophie was presented with a special birthday cake during her royal engagement at the Community Shop.
LATEST ROYAL NEWS:
Lady Louise is set to celebrate her mother's milestone birthday before heading back to Scotland.
Lady Louise Windsor, currently in her third year studying English at St Andrews University, will be able to attend her mother's birthday celebrations.
The timing works perfectly as the spring semester at the Scottish university doesn't begin until January 27, a week after the Duchess's birthday.
Lady Louise has been studying at St Andrews since September 2022, when she left the family home to pursue her degree in Fife.
