Surrey Police are seeking witnesses following a break-in at Morrisons on Westfield Road, Woking, by three masked men.

The incident occurred on March 30, around 11pm, when the suspects used a crowbar to force their way into the store, causing damage to the interior.

Although they were unable to access the safe, they left the premises with nothing except for a Creme Egg they took as they exited.

Authorities are asking anyone with relevant information to get in contact quoting PR/45250037574, or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 11.

Morrisons in Woking

This comes only weeks after another creme-egg thief was banned from Cambridshire county for three months.

Cambridgeshire Police reported that Deon De Groot, 26, entered Tesco Express on Welland Road, Dogsthorpe, Peterborough, around 11.40am on March 23 and stuffed chocolate into a duffle bag.

A staff member alerted officers in a passing police car, who found boxes of the chocolate eggs in his jacket.

They also discovered a bag, dropped nearby, filled with the Easter treats, according to police.

Bodycam footage released by the police show officers noticing a strange bulge under De Groot’s clothing before the arrest.

PC Guy Cunningham, who arrested him, is heard saying: “Hey, hey, hey, hey. Hands out. Hang on a sec. I’m going to put handcuffs on you, all right. You’re under arrest on suspicion of theft from a shop, all right. Because, I mean, Christ, what have you got in there?”

De Groot replied “Creme eggs”, and offered no resistance as the officer began unzipping his coat except to say “it’s all gonna fall out”.

De Groot was sentenced to 12 weeks in prison, suspended for a year, at Peterborough Magistrates' Court on Monday.

PC Cunningham said: "Thanks to the quick reaction by staff who flagged us down, we were able to catch De Groot red-handed and return the stolen items to the store."

During the court hearing, De Groot pleaded guilty to the theft and to leaving a petrol station without paying.

He was also issued a ban preventing him from entering Cambridgeshire for the next three months.

A ban from a specific area is a penalty usually imposed on habitual offenders through criminal behaviour orders (CBOs).

CBOs are issued by a court and can limit an offender's movements, associations, and activities.

Violating the terms of a CBO is a criminal offence and can result in imprisonment.
