A bed was left hanging from a house's first floor after a tractor crashed into two homes in Chester this morning.

The dramatic incident occurred at 6.35am when a tractor towing a trailer full of manure collided with a Mercedes-Benz at the junction of Pearl Lane.

The collision caused severe damage to two houses along the A51.

And now, Cheshire Constabulary has released an image of the tractor, with its trailer on the back, embedded halfway inside the two properties.

The impact destroyed a section of the front of both homes - sending furniture cascading out and onto the farm vehicle.

A pair of curtains from a front room was also pulled outside during the impact.

Meanwhile, artwork inside one home's bedroom was left on display to passers-by.

And in another snapshot of the carnage, a bed with its duvet still in place could be seen hanging precariously from the first floor.

But despite the dramatics, a spokesman for Cheshire Constabulary confirmed there were no reports of any serious injuries.

The drivers of both vehicles were taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital as a precautionary measure.

LATEST FROM THE NORTH WEST:

"The occupants of the houses have all been accounted for and are all safe and well," the spokesman added.

The A51 in Chester was closed between Green Lane and the A41 in both directions following the crash, before reopening later on Tuesday afternoon.
