Donald Trump has accused Volodymyr Zelensky of "not being ready for peace" in a blistering social media statement following the pair's Oval Office clash.
In a Truth Social post which came before the signing a crucial minerals deal was called off, Trump wrote: "We had a very meaningful meeting in the White House today.
"Much was learned that could never be understood without conversation under such fire and pressure.
"It's amazing what comes out through emotion, and I have determined that President Zelensky is not ready for peace if America is involved, because he feels our involvement gives him a big advantage in negotiations.
"I don't want advantage, I want PEACE. He disrespected the United States of America in its cherished Oval Office. He can come back when he is ready for peace."
Minutes later, US media reported that a press conference between the two Presidents was cancelled, and the Ukrainian delegation was on its way out of the White House.
A senior American official later said that while Trump was not ruling out an agreement with Zelensky, he would wait until Ukraine is "ready to have a constructive conversation", according to Reuters.
While a White House official said Trump felt "disrespected" by Zelensky's "rhetoric and demeanour" in the Oval Office.
On the other side of the Atlantic, a UK Government source told Sky News the spat was "unhelpful".

"Zelensky is no diplomat," they said. "Trump was egged on by Vance, and then got a full belligerent performance.
"Hopefully they'll cool off and we get a deal and a press conference. But [there's a] risk it's all off."
The row has already sent shockwaves around the world - the Euro slipped to a 16-day low following Trump and Zelensky's bitter feud.
And Trump ally Elon Musk has led an online pile-on following the dispute. "President Donald Trump is the Commander-in-Chief," the SpaceX magnate said.
He also "retweeted" a defiant post by US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, who wrote: "Thank you, President Trump, for standing up for the American people and our nation on the global stage."
Ex-Russian President and Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev turned up the heat, saying: "The insolent pig finally got a proper slap down in the Oval Office. And Donald Trump is right: The Kiev regime is 'gambling with WWIII'."
French President Emmanuel Macron appeared to try and remind the US who the "aggresor" really was in the war.
"Russia is the aggressor, and Ukraine is the aggressed people," Macron vowed. "We were all right to help Ukraine and sanction Russia three years ago - and to continue to do so.
"We must respect those who have been fighting since the beginning," he added.
And Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk added: "Dear Zelensky, dear Ukrainian friends, you are not alone."
His comments were later echoed by Germany's outgoing Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Spain's Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
Zelensky later issued a statement on social media which read: "Thank you America, thank you for your support, thank you for this visit.
"Thank you Potus, Congress, and the American people. Ukraine needs a just and lasting peace, and we are working exactly for that."
But that was met with condemnation by Vladimir Putin's foreign ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, who claimed that the "biggest lie is that Ukraine is alone, and without support".
