Nigel Farage has reacted to the fiery row in the White House as Volodymyr Zelensky is on his way to London for a crunch summit with European leaders this Sunday.

He added that the row was "regrettable" and warned that the fallout will leave Putin "feeling like the winner".

His statement has come a day after a showdown between the Ukrainian leader and President Trump in the White House, causing European leaders freeze up in the face of future security agreements.

Taking to X to make his feelings clear, Farage posted: "The spat in the White House last night is regrettable and will make Putin feel like the winner.

"But this is not the end of the story, far from it. A peace deal is essential and Ukraine needs the right security guarantees."

Meanwhile, Reform MP Rupert Lowe commented: "That is not a conversation that needed to happen in front of the cameras - this helps nobody in the West."

The bilateral meeting between Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky yesterday was scheduled so the two leaders could discuss the critical minerals deal and a possible ceasefire agreement with Russia.

The meeting culminated in fiery shouting match in front of the cameras as Donald Trump and JD Vance claimed that Ukraine should be more "thankful" for American support.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

The Ukrainian President has stood steadfast in his position, refusing to apologise to Donald Trump after their Oval Office bust up yesterday that caused Zelensky to leave the White House early.

Instead, he demanded that Trump be "more on our side" following a fury-fuelled row in the White House with the US President and his Vice President JD Vance.

In his first major interview since the press conference, Zelensky dodged the question of whether Donald Trump was owed an apology, saying: "I'm not sure we did something bad."

Earlier today, he added that it was "very important" that Ukraine's plight was not forgotten, explaining: "It is very important for us that Ukraine is heard and that no one forgets about it, neither during the war nor after."

Keir Starmer has spoken to both leaders after their spat, a Downing Street spokesman has confirmed.

He added that the Labour PM "retains his unwavering support for Ukraine and is playing his part to find a path forward to a lasting peace, based on sovereignty and security for Ukraine".

Ahead of the weekend, a Downing Street spokesman added that the PM is "looking forward" to welcoming international leaders to London on Sunday.

The summit is set to include an array of top European leaders and will address key issues of defence and security across the continent.
