Sir Keir Starmer's Labour Government is looking for a new low carbon chief and is offering an annual salary equivalent to £255,000, significantly more the Prime Minister's Salary.
The successful applicant, who would serve as Chair of the Low Carbon Contracts Company, is sponsored by Department for Energy Security & Net Zero and would earn and eye-watering £986 per day to work two days a week, the Government's own website admits.
The remuneration would amount to £102,500 across the year, equivalent to a full-time salary of £255,000, significantly more than Starmer’s £172,153 salary.
With the appointee serving a four year term, they would earn a salary equivalent to over £1million during this period.
Responding to the job advert, Conservative Peer and Chair of the Net Zero Scrutiny Group, Lord Craig Mackinlay, said: "The LCCC is yet another Government quango few will have heard of which is merrily adding to the black hole of Net Zero waste."
"This latest advertised role of chairman at a huge part-time salary speaks volumes about their approach."
Mackinlay added: "Limitless taxpayer cost for a pointless endeavour. Close it down."
The Government said it is on the hunt for a top candidate with "excellent communication and interpersonal skills", according to the job advert. With the role being described as both "demanding" and "influential".

Michael Shanks MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary for Energy Security & Net Zero, also made it clear that the Government wants a diverse range of applicants.
The Rutherglen MP wrapped up the job advert with a direct appeal, saying: "We proactively welcome applications from individuals of all backgrounds, including those from underrepresented groups.
"The message? If you’ve got the skills and the drive, they want to hear from you and are prepared to pay a substantial salary to secure a low carbon champion.
"Critics may question whether the appointment is a necessary use of taxpayer money, given the current state of the UK economy, with the spring statement expected to be a difficult one for British taxpayers."
Responding to the findings, Elliot Keck, Head of Campaigns at the Taxpayers' Alliance, said: "Taxpayers will be furious at this latest example of Whitehall waste."
Keck explained: "As services suffer and hard-working families face rising bills, ministers are supposed to be making savings, not handing huge sums to back-office bureaucrats...It’s high time these extraordinary pay packets and woke non-jobs were scrapped and precious resources focused on frontline services.”
The founder of Fair Fuel UK, Howard Cox, also slated the Government for its “staggering level of blind stupidity” as he voiced concerns as to why Whitehall's recruitment for new jobs has reached “monumental levels of insanity".
He told GB News: "This new job is not only a waste of taxpayers' money to pay such a mouth-watering remuneration, but it is only in place to promote an unproven, purely politically based doctrine...Every day, the net zero project adds astronomical costs to all our everyday lives yet will do nothing to improve the environment."
A Government spokesman said: "The role represents good value for money as the chair plays a crucial role in the LCCC and ESC Board.
"One of the Board’s responsibilities is to deal with legal challenges, which if not handled correctly could have multiple million-pound cost implications."
