The National Guard is "on alert for unrest" ahead of the US election, political commentator Paul Duddridge has claimed.

Speaking to GB News, Duddridge said: "They're calling out the National Guard in certain states, I think. Oregon, Washington.

"We're expecting unrest on the night of the election in certain states.

"I think that's probably going to be across many, certainly the swing states. But yes, already the National Guard is on alert for Tuesday night."

He added: "The one thing we can guarantee is Trump is going to declare victory on Tuesday night.

"So there won't be any concession no matter what the result. Trump will declare victory."

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS

This decision comes in the wake of recent incidents where ballot drop boxes were set on fire in Washington and Oregon, damaging or destroying hundreds of ballots.

Washington Governor Jay Inslee addressed these incidents in a news release, stating: "The southwest region of Washington state has already experienced specific instances of election-related unrest."

The US Department of Homeland Security has warned that threats to "election infrastructure" remain high, prompting state officials to take preventive action.

In Oregon, Governor Tina Kotek announced that the National Guard is standing ready, whilst political leaders call for peaceful protests.

Donald Trump

There have also been rumours that if he wins, Trump could be disqualified due to comments that he made in a Fox News interview with Tucker Carlson.

"Liz Cheney is a radical war hawk. Let’s put her with a rifle standing there with nine barrels shooting at her, OK?” he said.

"Let’s see how she feels about it, you know, when the guns are trained on her face."

Speaking about this, Duddridge said: "The attorney general of Arizona, I believe is investigating these comments to see if they cross the line into any kind of physical threat and the word disqualification has been thrown around.

Kamala Harris

"This would disqualify him from being President.

"Kamala herself, Vice President of the US, let's not forget, has said yes, those comments would disqualify him."

Cheney, one of Trump’s most vocal critics, endorsed Harris and has been campaigning with her in recent weeks.
