A migrant who made death threats against Nigel Farage has been detained, GB News understands.
The Clacton MP said that a migrant who seemingly taunted the British and French authorities and broadcasted his journey live on social media has been placed in secure detention.
Farage posted on social media: "The Metropolitan Police have released the following statement: 'The person who goes by the name Madapasa has been detained by Immigration Officers, he is currently in secure detention and will be investigated for immigration and criminal offences'."
Now, the Met Police has confirmed to GB News that a man has been detained for immigration offences in Dover.
A Met Police spokesperson told GB News: "On Friday, October 18, we received a report of malicious communications and threats to kill towards an MP in relation to a video posted on social media. Detectives have been investigating and enquiries remain ongoing.
"We are aware that a man has today October 31 been detained for immigration offences in Dover.
"We are closely liaising with partners from Border Force. The Met takes the safety and security of MPs extremely seriously and we are committed to ensuring that they, their families and staff can go about their work and lives without feeling unsafe or intimidated.
"As part of Operation Bridger, the national policing operation that co-ordinates protective security advice, we work closely with the Parliamentary authorities, local forces and the Cabinet Office in ensuring that the appropriate security measures are in place for all MPs."
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:
Farage previously criticised some of Pasa’s videos, saying: "The guy's name is Mada Pasa, he has been living in Stockholm, he clearly wants to be a big star on TikTok, he wants to become an influencer.
"Perhaps he thinks his chances are better coming to the United Kingdom and doing it here."
It prompted an angry reaction from the TikToker who posted a video in response saying: "English man Nigel (Pasa). Don't talk s**t about me. You not know me.
"I come to England because I want to be married with your sister. Don't talk about me more. Delete the video. It is not good my friend, you do not know me. I am going to come to England..."
[BGCOLOR=var(--pam-color-secondary-regular)]It comes after a migrant[/BGCOLOR] has died while trying to cross the English Channel as 30,000 are believed to have arrived in the UK after making the journey so far this year.
Around 15 people were rescued after they fell into the sea while trying to join a boat off the coast in the Calais region, between Hardelot and Equihen-Plage a spokeswoman for the French coastguard said, while witnesses described seeing a baby in the water.
A man was declared dead when he was brought ashore in the rescue operation by a French navy helicopter and lifeboat, while others were brought to the beach and on to hospital.
