Kari Lake made a savage quip in response to Bill Clinton calling her "physically attractive".

The Arizona Senate race has made headlines recently with Lake, a close Donald Trump ally, facing off against Ruben Gallego in a contest that could have significant implications for the upcoming US election.

Speaking to GBN America, Lake delivered a scathing response to Clinton's remarks.

She told Neil Oliver: "I'm a middle aged woman. I'll take the compliment, okay?

"I'm not going to say no, I'm going to take the compliment. I'm flattered by it. I'm happily married."

Lake then added a biting quip: "I'm surprised because I thought Bill Clinton was into interns. People much younger than me."

She added: "I certainly don't want to trigger Hillary Clinton or get on her really bad side, because I know that's a very dangerous place to be.

The comment was a reference to Clinton’s 1995-to-1997 White House affair with then-intern Monica Lewinsky, who was 22 at the time it began.

Speaking in Phoenix this week Clinton said: "You’ve got a person that grew up under sometimes-challenging circumstances, who made something of his life, running against someone who is physically attractive but believes that politics is a performance art.

"And where, like JD Vance, she has to be prostrate before the master."

Lake added: "Some people just never change. They never change. We had just come back from 48 hours on the border.

"When I got home, we crashed into bed. It was a really long day. We'd been on the border, and then we've been all over Maricopa County. So I woke up to that story.

"Somebody had sent it to me, and I thought, oh, my gosh, is this really happening? Bill Clinton talking about my appearance, which was was quite hilarious.

"But was not hilarious, was what we saw at the border, which is our government the United States government, funded by we the people, assisting people coming across the border."

She explained: "It is kind of like Expedia. You go there and we'll put you up in a hotel, we'll get you transportation, we'll get you a job permit, we'll get you set up to do everything.

"t's right there. Instructions on what to do now that you've entered illegally, how to get settled in.

"It is the most disgusting slap in the face to the American people. And when I get in to the US Senate in January of 2025, along with President Trump, we are going to stop these b******s."
