Jordan Spieth was involved in a bizarre incident during Sunday's final round at the Masters, appearing to accidentally hit a patron in a very sensitive area with his putter handle.

The unfortunate recipient, believed to be his manager Jay Danzi, was left bent over in agony after the encounter.

The 2015 champion was making his way between holes at Augusta when the mishap occurred.

It's the second time this week Spieth has drawn attention for his Augusta antics.

The golfer was fist-bumping spectators with one hand while holding his putter in the other.

When a grey-haired man extended his arm for a greeting, Spieth bumped his fist but also inadvertently connected with his putter.

The man immediately doubled over in pain following the contact.

Spieth continued walking towards the next tee without looking back, seemingly unaware of what had happened.

Footage of the incident quickly spread across social media platforms.

However, it was soon clarified that the man on the receiving end was likely Spieth's manager, Danzi.

This incident came just a day after Spieth had already courted controversy at Augusta for breaking an unwritten rule.

On Saturday, he risked angering Augusta officials by discussing the issue of 'mud balls' at the Masters.

The course's pristine appearance belies a common problem where balls become coated in mud due to the grass being mowed in the direction of the tee boxes.

Speaking after carding a third-round 69 to reach one under par, Spieth broke the tournament's unspoken rule of silence on the matter.

He felt his iron play had suffered significantly because of these conditions.

"My iron play killed me the last two days, and to be brutally honest with you, it was primarily mud balls," Spieth said after his third round.

"It's just so frustrating because you can't talk about them here. You're not supposed to talk about them."

His frustration was evident as he explained how the issue had significantly impacted his performance.

"(But) mud balls can affect this tournament significantly, especially when you get them a lot on 11 and 13," Spieth continued.

"They're just daggers on those two holes. They've done a better job - there's less than normal, but I still had them today on those holes and yesterday.

"You just have to play so far away from trouble or lay up when you'd normally go for it, just random stuff, because it will affect it significantly."
