Joe Biden bluntly told reporters yesterday that he is "doing 9/11" when asked what his plans were ahead of the presidential debate.
The US president was questioned about what he will be doing over the coming days when he made the strange comment one day before the 23rd anniversary of the terror attacks.
The 81-year-old was heading to Marine One on the White House lawn before the Kamala Harris and Donald Trump debate when journalists asked about his plans.
Biden said: "I'm going up to my granddaughter's birthday in New York.
"Then we're gonna watch the debate, then tomorrow I'm doing 9/11."
The American president is set to pay tribute to all those affected by the attacks in New York City before visiting the Pentagon and Shanksville, Pennsylvania, memorials.
His comment regarding the September 11, 2001 horror incident has since sparked concern on social media.
One user wrote: "Biden’s slip-ups are endless. You’d think someone would double-check his scripts by now."

Another added: "Gotta be honest until I saw that 'tomorrow I'm doing 9/11' clip just now I kind of forget Joe Biden was even alive."
A Trump campaign associated account shared the clip, and wrote: "This is the humiliating cognitive decline Kamala Harris COVERED UP".
On September 11, 2001 al-Qaida terrorists seized control of airplanes and hit New York's World Trade Center and the Pentagon near Washington.
The number of casualties includes 2,977 victims and 19 hijackers.
It is Biden's latest gaffe in a multitude of slip ups over recent months.
Just before he stepped down from the re-election race, he referred to his Vice President Harris as Donald Trump.
Biden has also called people the wrong names, fallen off bikes and tripped during various occasions.
