Europe has been warned against "poking the bear" with US President Donald Trump, as world leaders reaffirmed their support for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at a European summit.
Despite their extraordinary row at the Oval Office on Friday, Zelensky has declared his country is "ready" to sign a minerals deal with the United States.
Speaking to reporters on Sunday, Zelenskyy said: "I just want the Ukrainian position to be heard. We want our partners to remember who the aggressor is in this war."
Discussing the current state of US-Ukraine relations, commentator Adam Brooks has warned that peace in Ukraine can only be achieved with President Trump's involvement.
Brooks told GB News: "With American officials on the ground in Ukraine, Putin is never going to take another inch past the agreed line. So it is Trump or no one really for a peace deal.
"It has to be on Trump's terms. Obviously it has to work for Ukraine and for Putin, but I can't say enough, the cease fire only happens with Trump."
Highlighting the united force shown by world leaders at this weekend's summit, Brooks cautioned that the move may "poke the bear" in America following his row with Zelensky.
Brooks stated: "We can't start alienating him and all getting together and pushing back against Trump.
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:
"If we start cancelling state visits, that's just going to poke the bear. And it's going to make us all poorer and the world less safe."
Offering optimism for relations between Zelensky and Trump, commentator Chloe Dobbs claimed that the two leaders "need to get along" if they are to "end the bloodshed in Ukraine".
Dobbs explained: "That news is a big relief to me, because I was really concerned after seeing that bust up between the two.
"People have got different opinions as to whose fault it was that it all broke out in this big fight, but at the end of the day, we need these two people to get along if we're ever going to end the bloodshed in Ukraine."
She added: "Zelensky really needs to get along with Trump because he's the most powerful guy in the West. They are so dependent on the US support. He's got to get back and sit down and have a conversation with him, so fingers crossed things can be on more amicable terms in future."
Zelenskyy has insisted any deal must include "real security guarantees" for Ukraine. He warned of further Russian aggression if these guarantees were not established.
At the London summit, UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer announced that Britain and France would gather a "coalition of the willing" to create a peace plan for Ukraine.
Starmer declared: "We are at a crossroads in history today. This is not a moment for more talk. It's time to act. Time to step up and lead and to unite around a new plan for a just and enduring peace."
