One of the Labour party's rising star MPs has told how he would not have stood as a Labour MP when Jeremy Corbyn was leader because of concerns that it was no longer patriotic.
Mike Tapp, the Labour MP for Dover and Deal since last July, told GB News' Chopper's Political Podcast: "I would not have stood under Jeremy Corbyn.
"I've made that really clear.
"He's not a Labour MP now and we love the flag and we're very patriotic. And I think you've got to love the country to serve it."
Tapp, the son of a policeman who took part in three deployments to Afghanistan with the Army's Intelligence Corps, added: "I was brought up on British values.
"My grandad was flew Catalina boats, taking out Nazis in the Atlantic.
"He was then a Colman's mustard salesman, you know the best of British and he absolutely he sort of discreetly drummed in that interest.
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:
"So there's no question that serving the country means you need to love it."
