Kamala Harris appears to have made an excruciating election day gaffe by appearing to fake a phone call with a voter.
In fresh footage from the very last stages of the campaign trail, the Presidential hopeful posed for the cameras on a last-minute drop-in to a Democratic Party phone bank.
And Harris joined staffers in reaching out to the American public - or, at least, she appeared to.
In one video clip from her visit, the incumbent Vice President can be heard asking one caller: "Have you voted already?"

After a brief pause, Harris then adds: "You did? Thank you!"
As the Democratic crowd around her cheers, Harris can be seen grinning and holding the phone aloft.
But as she does so, the smartphone's screen appears to be on the camera app.

She then returns the phone to her ear, and says: "Thank you so very much.
"It's so important that everybody participates."
The apparent gaffe has sparked social media speculation that Harris may have staged the call in an attempt to woo voters late on.
Though others have claimed the Vice President's face touching the screen could have switched the apps over in an instant.
Whatever lay behind the gaffe, Harris is hunkering down in her alma mater Howard University in Washington DC for this knife-edge election night.
With state projections trickling in minute-by-minute, both Harris and Republican challenger Donald Trump face a nail-biting race to the finish line.
While the VP watches on in DC, Trump is in his Florida base of Mar-a-Lago - with high-profile supporters including tech magnate Elon Musk in tow.
As student crowds pack out the Howard campus, legions of Trump voters have descended on the Palm Beach Convention Center for a mega Maga watch party.
