Britons have welcomed the New Year with celebrations across the UK as more than 100,000 gathered in London to watch the capital's New Year's Eve firework display.
Millions of people around the world gathered throughout the day to mark the start of 2025.
London yet again marked the moment with an extravagant firework display.
The capital's display costs around £2million, with tickets going on sale to the general public for £20 to £50 per person.
Crowds gathered on the Embankment hours before the firework display started at midnight.
However, there had been concerns about the weather derailing the capital's celebrations.
Adverse conditions, including a series of yellow weather warnings issued by the Met Office, halted jubilant crowds from gathering for official displays in a number of major UK cities.
Edinburgh and Newcastle were among the cities forced to cancel celebrations due to nervousness about the impact of the weather conditions.
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:
Despite cancelling official celebrations, a local Edinburgh hero appeared to mark the moment in style.
Fireworks were set off from near Princes Street in the Scottish capital to celebrate Hogmanay.
However, London's celebrations received the go-ahead after Titanimum Fireworks' display director Darryl Fleming confirmed his team had implemented extensive preparations to ensure a successful event on the Thames.
Ahead of the display, recently knighted London Mayor Sir Sadiq Khan also said: “I’m really excited about the London New Year’s Eve fireworks, the biggest fireworks taking place anywhere across Europe.
“Hundreds of thousands of fireworks, great light display but also a great soundtrack tonight as well.”
A number of weather warnings remained in place as Britons welcomed 2025.
Scotland faced two yellow warnings - one for snow and ice and another for rain and snow.
The North West of England faced an amber rain warning and a yellow rain warning.
A widespread wind warning was also impacting large swathes of England and Wales.
New Year's celebrations started much earlier in the day.
Sydney was one of the first major cities to mark the moment.
More than one million people have gathered along the city's harbour foreshore to witness the spectacular event.
