iPhone 15 Pro Max — the most expensive, top-of-the-line handset launched by Apple last year — has plunged to its lowest-ever price on Amazon. Order before midnight tonight (March 31) and you'll save £300 on the RRP.

You can pocket the iPhone 15 Pro Max for just £899 — a substantial discount on the £1,199 RRP.

This incredible saving cuts the price of this all-singing, all-dancing smartphone to the same price as the iPhone 16 Plus, despite it lacking some of the premium features found on the iPhone 15 Pro Max. The iPhone 15 Pro Max comes with 256GB storage as standard — double the 128GB found in the iPhone 16 Plus.

You'd need to spend at least £999 in your nearest Apple Store to pocket an iPhone 16 Plus with the same 256GB of built-in storage, 6.7" OLED display, and support for Apple Intelligence features.

Apple's iPhone 15 Pro Max, released in September 2023, features a 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR display, A17 Pro system-on-a-chip, titanium frame, USB-C port, and triple camera system with a 48MP main sensor

If you're unsure of exactly how these handsets compare, here's a list of several features found on the £1,199 iPhone 15 Pro Max that didn't make the cut on the £899 iPhone 16 Plus launched last year:

  • Triple Camera System: The iPhone 15 Pro Max boasts a triple camera setup with enhanced capabilities, including lossless 5x optical zoom and superior low-light performance.
  • ProMotion: The iPhone 15 Pro Max features ProMotion technology, which offers adaptive refresh rates up to 120Hz for smoother scrolling animation, faster gameplay, and more responsive touch input.

  • Always-On Screen: While the iPhone 16 Plus still has a blank screen when it's locked, iPhone 15 Pro Max has a colourful always-on screen that lets you glance at the time, incoming notifications, weather forecast, and more.
  • USB 3 Support: The iPhone 15 Pro Max supports USB 3 speeds, enabling data transfer rates up to 10 gigabits per second, which is significantly faster than the USB 2 speeds supported by the iPhone 16 Plus.
  • Titanium Design: The iPhone 15 Pro Max features a titanium frame, offering a premium feel and increased durability compared to the aluminum design of the iPhone 16 Plus.

Despite these differences, both models share several key features:

Both the iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 16 Plus are equipped with a 6.7-inch edge-to-edge touchscreen display with the Dynamic Island feature. Both handsets also boast a USB-C port, so you can travel with a single charging cable to top-up your iPad, Kindle, MacBook, Nintendo Switch, and dozens of other gadgets.

They also feature the Action button — a customisable button that replaces the traditional mute switch to enable speedy access to various functions, from drafting an email, switching between Focus modes, launching the camera, or dozens of other possibilities.

Both devices support MagSafe and Qi wireless charging standards, ensuring versatile charging options. Additionally, they include safety features such as Crash Detection and Emergency SOS via satellite, providing peace of mind in critical situations.

The dramatic price cut on Amazon includes Natural Titanium and Black Titanium options, with the two other colourways — Blue Titanium and White Titanium — costing a little more.

Apple discontinues the Pro variant of its iPhone lineup every year with the launch of the latest model. This is in contrast with the standard model, which sticks around at a lower price point. For example, iPhone 15 is still available to buy at £699 — £100 less than its launch price.

Apple's iPhone 16 Plus, launched in September 2024, features a 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR display, A18 chip, 8GB RAM, 48MP dual-camera system, and the longest battery life of any iPhone ever released

iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max vanished from the shelves of the Apple Store, despite launching at the same time. Some retailers, like Amazon, continue to sell the handset while stock lasts. The same smartphone costs £949 at Harvey Norman, £1,049 at Argos, and £999 when bought from John Lewis.

iPhone 15 Pro Max has enough power under the bonnet to support the latest Apple Intelligence features. You're also guaranteed to enjoy updates to the next version of iOS when it launches later this year.

Whispers suggest Apple is planning one of the biggest redesigns in over a decade for iOS 19, which could be previewed in a matter of weeks at its WWDC 2025 event.
