Former Labour MP Geoff Hoon has said that he is "absolutely sure" that Keir Starmer and Donald Trump will work together well.
Speaking to GB News he said: "Governments have to work with each other, particularly democratic governments who are have a great deal in common in terms of the economy, in terms of defence, in terms of foreign policy.
"I'm absolutely sure from my experience in government, albeit a while ago, that the reality is that the two governments will get on, we'll discuss issues.
"They won't agree on everything. That is never the case. But the reality is that they will work closely together. I just wonder if Keir Starmer, being very pro-europe, will seek further integration with Europe rather than perhaps strengthen relationships with the United States.
"We know he's been spending quite a lot of time thinking about how he's going to change the relationship with the European Union following Brexit."
