Elon Musk's father, Errol, has hinted at what role his son could be taking in the Trump administration.

The X creator has been widely tipped for a role after he threw his weight behind Donald Trump's successful campaign that landed him the presidency.

Speaking to GB News, Errol Musk said: "Elon is very busy. So obviously we know a couple of hundred thousand employees and tremendous responsibilities on his hands.

"He's not able to go and sit in an office somewhere like the typical politician type or bureaucrat and do nothing all day.

"No. He has to do his work and he will probably serve as a Consultant, you know, on issues that are more important.

"So when it's an issue that is more important comes up, you'll find that they will get hold of him and and ask for his input."

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS

In September, Trump announced plans to establish a government efficiency commission headed by Musk if he won the election.

Musk has already outlined ambitious goals, suggesting he could cut $2 trillion from the $6.75 trillion federal budget.

During Tesla's third-quarter earnings call, Musk indicated he would use this position to push for regulatory approval of self-driving vehicles.

Musk said on an Aug. 19 podcast that he had held conversations with the former president about the commission and that he would be interested in serving on it.

"I look forward to serving America if the opportunity arises," the Tesla chief wrote on X at the time.

"No pay, no title, no recognition is needed."

Asked whether his is proud of his billionaire sons achievements, Errol Musk said: "I was proud of all my children the day where they're born.

"A parent isn't proud, that's a silly thing to say. I'm pleased with their progress.

"Very pleased with all of their progress, not just Elon.

"That's the role of a parent. I'm proud is silly, a silly word."
