British asparagus haas arrived in 250 Marks & Spencer stores earlier than usual, leaving shoppers surprised.

The seasonal vegetable, which usually grows between April and June, is now available across a significantly expanded number of locations.

M&S shared in an Instagram post: "Bright, Bold & Bursting with Flavour - it's British Asparagus season!

"As the ONLY retailer to have brought you the first British asparagus of the season in selected stores before Christmas, you can NOW find them across 250 of our stores - widely available, earlier than ever before!"

BRITISH ASPARAGUS

This marks an unprecedented early availability of British asparagus, and shoppers were quick to notice.

"Very early for asparagus?" one commentator quipped, while another echoed: "In March? The 2nd March?"

The retailer highlighted this exclusive early offering as part of its commitment to British produce.

The asparagus is "naturally grown at its finest" by the supermarket chain's longstanding supplier, Wye Valley Produce, M&S pointed out.

In other news, the retailer has unveiled a fresh new look for its iconic Milk Chocolate Fudge bar.

The popular sweet treat now features brand-new paper-based packaging as part of an exciting sustainability trial.

"Our iconic Milk Chocolate Fudge bar has a fresh new look!" the retailer stated.

The packaging redesign represents a significant shift for one of the company's top-selling confectionery items.

The change is part of the retailer's broader environmental initiatives aimed at reducing plastic usage across its food range.
