A former member of the Special Forces has expressed his "disgust" at planned pro-Palestine protests on Remembrance Sunday, fearing that "ideology" is taking over the event.

Pro-Palestine marches have been planned in Birmingham, Liverpool, Bath and across Ireland, hosted by groups across the country.

Despite West Midlands Police and Avon & Somerset Police claiming that "no events have been confirmed", Liverpool Friends of Palestine did confirm a march will go ahead, telling GB News: "Never again should mean never again. Our call for a ceasefire is precisely what should be heard on Remembrance Sunday".

Speaking to host Martin Daubney on GB News, former member of the Special Forces Peter Wright said he feels "disgusted" and "humiliated" by the planned demonstrations.

Wright fumed: "To be honest, I feel disgusted, I feel let down and I feel humiliated.

"My friends who also served have the same opinion. It's not an ideology, it's a place where we can remember friends and colleagues that didn't make it. And that is for me, unlawful in the spirit and the letter of the law."

Offering an alternative solution to the planned protests, Wright admitted that the "protests can go ahead", but "no where near" where veterans will be gathered for Remembrance.

Wright explained: "They can do it on Remembrance Sunday, but nowhere near where we are gathered to remember the dead.

"They can do it in places where no one's there, or Speaker's Corner, or anywhere else they can do it, no problem. But other than that, don't insult us."

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

When asked by Martin Daubney if he believes that Britain is "no longer sacred" with events such as Remembrance Sunday, Wright agreed, adding: "I feel that we've been let down so much by government. Especially now, when we heard a week ago or so that they want to come over just to meet Keir Starmer.

"That is frightening. So something's got to happen - if not, there'll be more riots."

Offering his view on the planned Palestine marches, Martin told GB News: "These Palestine protests have been happening every weekend since October the 7th last year.

"They've almost become a part of the fabric of British society, whether we like it or not."

West Midlands Police and Avon & Somerset Police told GB News that "no event has been confirmed" for this week, "to their knowledge", and are "contacting organisers for more information".

Police in Ireland say they "respect the right for citizens to exercise their constitutional rights and have no role to permit or authorise gatherings".

GB News also contacted Merseyside Police but received no reply.
