A British tourist has been killed after her jet ski lost control and collided with a rock during a holiday to the Bahamas.

The 73-year-old woman, who has not been named, crashed near Half Moon Cay on Saturday.

She was jet-skiing on the uninhabited island when she “lost control” of the vehicle and “collided with a rock”.

Police arrived at the RelaxAway private beach club at just past 1.00pm.

The cruise departed from Ford Lauderdale on March 16, and was on its seventh day out of a 14-day itinerary around the eastern and western Caribbean.

The ship - which usually hosts over 2,000 guests - has continued on its planned route and is expected to dock in Jamaica today.

Half Moon Cay has held the title of "Best Private Island" for 20 years running.
