Commentator Carole Malone has claimed that it is a "fact" that Rupert Lowe "does not connect with the people" in the way Nigel Farage does with Reform UK supporters.

As the suspended MP for Great Yarmouth faces a police investigation after allegations of bullying were made, a new poll by JL Partners has delivered a fresh blow to Lowe.

According to the poll's figures, more than 70 per cent of Reform UK voters do not know who Rupert Lowe is, with more than 85 per cent of the public saying the same thing.

Discussing the polling on GB News, commentator Carole Malone claimed Reform UK would be a "busted flush" without its leader Nigel Farage, and claimed that Lowe "wanted to be leader" of the party.

Malone told GB News: "He's very popular on Twitter, but Nigel Farage is Reform - it's a busted flush without him, and that is the fact.

"Whether you love him or whether you loathe them, he [Farage] is one of the most influential and consequential politicians of the 21st century. And all this nonsense - Rupert Lowe wants to be leader, and the bottom line is Farage."

Noting Farage's connection with voters in comparison to Lowe, Malone recalled her first hand experience of the Reform UK leader's campaign style.

She revealed: "I've been reporting with Nigel Farage on campaign trail, and I've seen what he does with all classes of people and all ages of people. He draws them in like the Pied Piper.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

Rupert Lowe

"Rupert Lowe is a stinking rich ex-banker, super rich guy, he does not connect with people the way Nigel Farage does, and that's a fact."

Offering his view on the Reform UK row, commentator Jonathan Lis warned that infighting within a political party is "never popular with the people", and may affect their polling in the future.

Lis explained: "We'll see how the rally develops and if it has cut through, so to speak, in the polls, but I think it's a terrible look generally. Infighting is never popular with the people.

"It's quite an entertaining story when there's so much serious stuff happening in the world, but it's also quite a salutary tale, because Reform has not had that much scrutiny, particularly since the election."

The now independent MP for Great Yarmouth has denied allegations of bullying, branding them "vexatious".

Confirming an investigation is now underway, a Scotland Yard spokesman said: "Our original statement referred to alleged threats made in December 2024.

"We would like to clarify that when this matter was reported to us it referred to a series of alleged threats made between December 2024 and February 2025.

"Further enquiries are ongoing at this stage."
