Ex-Conservative MP Anna Firth has launched a scathing attack on the reported decision to award Sadiq Khan a knighthood.
Speaking on GB News, Firth declared: "Let's be absolutely clear, it's the people of London that deserve a knighthood for putting up with Sadiq Khan."
She criticised Khan's record on crime, stating: "Tell that to the 15,000 families who've had a victim of knife crime. He has completely failed on knife crime and to keep the streets safe."
The former MP also blasted Khan's transport policies: "He's failed motorists with his absolute war on them and with his ULEZ charge. TfL is going bankrupt."
"What has this man actually done to deserve a knighthood? He's failed everybody," she added.
London Mayor Sadiq Khan is set to receive a knighthood in the New Year honours list, according to Whitehall sources.
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS
The Labour politician will reportedly be recognised for his political and public service spanning almost two decades.
The honour is expected to be part of Sir Keir Starmer's first New Year honours list as Prime Minister.
Several other political figures are also in line for honours, including Labour MP Emily Thornberry, who is set to receive a damehood.
Former Blair-era health secretary Patricia Hewitt is also expected to be among the recipients.
Khan made history as the first Muslim mayor of London when he was elected in 2016.
He secured a historic third term as mayor earlier this year, continuing his tenure as the capital's leader.
Before his mayoral role, Khan served as the MP for Tooting and held a ministerial position under Gordon Brown's government.
His political career spans nearly two decades of frontline politics, forming the basis for his recognition in the honours list.
The award is set to acknowledge Khan's contributions to "political and public service" during his time in office.
Former Conservative West Midlands mayor Andy Street is among several Tory politicians expected to receive honours.
Other Conservative recipients may include Nick Gibb, the former schools minister, and former MPs Ranil Jayawardena and Marcus Jones.
The draft honours list also includes figures from outside politics, with speculation around David Beckham potentially receiving a knighthood following his recent Buckingham Palace banquet appearance.
However, sources note that the honours list still requires final approval from both Sir Keir Starmer and the King before being confirmed.
The government is also expected to issue a fresh list of political peerages in the coming weeks.
