Joe Biden’s verbal gaffe calling Donald Trump voters “garbage” is evidence that he and Vice President Kamala Harris “have no sound policies”, a Tennessee congressman told GB News.
Attempting to make light of a comic who sparked controversy at a Trump rally last Sunday by referring to Puerto Rico as an “island of garbage”, Biden was quoted as saying “The only garbage I see floating out there is his [Trump’s] supporters”.
The White House was quick to respond to the gaffe by clarifying the President was talking about the words of Trump rally comedian Tony Hinchcliffe and not the tens of millions of Trump supporters.
However, the comments sparked anger regardless, including a stunt by Trump in response.
When asked how Biden's comments were received by voters in Tennessee, Congressman Andy Ogles told GB News the only tactic the Democrats have left is smear campaigns.
The Republican congressman representing Tennessee’s 5th congressional district said: “It just kind of goes to show that the current administration, the Biden-Harris administration, really have no sound policies to run on because their policies to date have been absolute failures.
“So the only thing they can do is call names and have personal attacks against their opponent, Donald Trump, because, again, the southern border is wide open, we've literally had terrorists come into our country. There are some 300 on the loose.
“We see crime up across the country, whether it's a small city or in rural areas, violent gangs from Central and South America that have never been in our country before, sweeping across this country.

“And then you have inflation. You know, a gallon of orange juice has almost doubled in price since pre-Covid.
“So for a lot of working-class families, when they go to the grocery store, that's a painful experience.
“They're having to cut their budgets, they're buying generics, they're not buying orange juice and those more expensive items because they just can't afford it.
“That's why I think Donald Trump is going to win and win big.”
In response to Biden’s gaffe, Trump dressed in an orange high-vis jacket and took the wheel of a waste disposal truck, saying: “I have to begin by saying 250 million Americans are not garbage.
“This week, Kamala has been comparing her political opponents to the most evil mass murderers in history, and now, speaking on a call for her campaign last night, crooked Joe Biden finally said what he and Kamala really think of our supporters. He called them garbage. No way!”
Continuing to give his personal take on Donald Trump’s response to the comment, Ogles said: “I think it shows he seized the moment and had fun with it.
“I mean, that's part of the appeal of Donald Trump.
“Yes. He's someone who has had great success and made great wealth but at the end of the day, he gets into a garbage truck and pokes fun in the moment.
“So the difference between the Republican Party currently and the Democratic Party is, you know, we're out here rolling up our sleeves getting it done.
“We win Michigan, North Carolina, Georgia and Arizona. This thing is over. And I think they call it early.”
