A total of £30,000 has been raised for a British man who is “fighting for his life” in a coma in Australia.
After the online fundraiser was launched on Wednesday, people from Conor Molloy's home in Gilford, Northern Ireland, helped raise an incredible £28,365 in under 24 hours.
The fundraiser on the website GoFundMe was started by Gilford Amateur Boxing Club, who shared the plea for support, saying: "Unfortunately Gilford lad Conor Molloy is fighting for his life out in Australia… family have had to fly out to be at his bedside.
"Can we help make things a little bit easier financially together as a village and as a district."
Offering her sympathy to the man and his family, DUP MP Carla Lockhart took to social media to thank those who had offered their support so far, writing: "Conor’s family needs our help. Every donation—no matter the amount—will help ease the financial strain on his loved ones, allowing them to focus on supporting Conor in his fight to recover.
"I encourage anyone who is able to contribute to please consider donating. Let’s come together as a community to show Conor and his family that they are not alone."
She added: "Well done to sports clubs in the local area for this amazing effort."
Lockhart thanked the community for their "kindness and generosity" so far, urging local residents to keep Conor and his family in their "thoughts and prayers".

Other local sports clubs and community groups have joined the heart-warming effort to help the much-loved sportsman and his family.
Gilford Crusaders Football Club have offered their thoughts and prayers for their former player, posting: "The thoughts and prayers of everyone involved with Gilford Crusaders are with the family of our former player Conor Molloy who is currently fighting for his life in Australia.
"Please keep Conor’s family in your thoughts at this difficult time.
Meanwhile, Portadown Rugby Football Club also posted: "Conor is a friend of many and has relatives at the Club.
"This GoFundMe will help Conor’s family at this tragic time so please give what you can."
Offering the family her sympathy, one of the fundraiser’s donors wrote: "May the love and support get Conor & his family through this incredibly sad time.
"My eldest son is in Australia, it’s difficult when they are far away but I can’t imagine the pain they are all going through now. I’m sorry this is happening to you."
She assured the family that their son was surrounded by loved ones, saying that was all they needed to "keep strong".
Currently, the total stands at £31,160, surpassing their original target three-fold..
